GSA port and ship agency services

General Shipping Agencies (Pvt) Ltd (GSA) was established in 1974 and is a family owned business with three actively participating generations.

We currently represent several ship owners and operators of international repute.

Our primary business is providing high quality port and ship’s agency services by catering to all the needs of the vessel and principals.

In addition, we render our services as protecting or husbanding agents for owners whose vessels have been chartered by others.

The company is recognised and trusted as one of the leading shipping agencies in Pakistan.

Our Pioneering Efforts

1981 to 1982

Khan Brothers and Associates

First terminal operator at Port Qasim and sole cargo handling company for the first two years.

1985

Mega Equipment (Pvt) Ltd

GSA was a major shareholder and accredited with being the first to modernise and fully automate wheat handling at Port Qasim.

1991

Engro Chemical Pakistan Limited

We are proud to have handled, as agents of Jumbo Maritime, the vessels transporting fertiliser manufacturing plants destined for ECPL's Dharki plant site, an international first.

1992

Gwadar Anchorage

First Pakistani shipping agency to discharge cargo at anchorage prior to Gwadar Port being developed.

2015

FSRU Exquisite

We hold the distinction of handling the first FSRU located at Port Qasim, thus playing a role in bringing LNG into Pakistan.

2016

Qatargas Q-FLEX

First Pakistani shipping agency to handle a Q-FLEX LNG carrier calling at Engro Elengy Terminal (Pvt) Ltd.

2020

FSRU SEQUOIA

First Pakistani shipping agency to handle two FSRUs simultaneously at Engro Elengy Terminal (Pvt) Ltd.

Virus Free Air Corridors

First Pakistani shipping agency to enable crew changes at the peak of Covid 19.

International Organization for Standardization (ISO)

ISO 9001:2015: In keeping with our innovative spirit, we were the first Pakistani shipping agency in 1999 to obtain an ISO certification, originally ISO 9001:1994. We have continuously upgraded our certification, most recently upgrading to ISO 9001:2015 in 2018, which attests to our commitment to quality service.

Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO)

This prestigious world renowned body represents the interests of the international shipping community. GSA is proud to be the first Pakistani shipping agency to be enrolled as members in 1982 and is a reference point for BIMCO in Pakistan.

International Transport Intermediaries Club (ITIC)

We are the first Pakistani shipping agency to maintain a professional indemnity cover from ITIC London, a mutual insurance company since 1985, against potential losses to our principals arising from negligent error or omission, affording our principals a secure relationship.
